EARTH TECH AWARDED $10.1 MILLION CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT CONTRACT FOR CHICAGO-AREA TOLLWAY BRIDGE PROJECT
LONG BEACH, Calif. (November 8, 2005) – Earth Tech Inc., a business unit of Tyco International Ltd, and a global provider of consulting, engineering and construction services, has received a $10.1 million contract from the Illinois Tollway to manage the construction of a 1.3-mile-long bridge that is part of the Illinois Tollway’s $5.3 billion Congestion-Relief Plan to reduce travel times.
As construction manager, Earth Tech will oversee a team of four subcontractors and provide contract administration and inspection services for the $139 million Des Plaines River Valley Bridge project, which is part of the North-South Tollway (I-355) South Extension project that will extend I-355 from its current terminus at the Stevenson Expressway (I-55) south to I-80.
“On time completion with minimal environmental impact will be our priorities in this project,” said Alan Krusi, Earth Tech president. “The experience of our team construction management, transportation and environmental staff will prove essential to achieving this objective.”
Bridge segments will be constructed off site and transported along local roads to the final location, requiring a high degree of coordination. Completion is expected in December 2007.
