earth tech awarded $9 million CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT CONTRACT FOR LOS ANGELES UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT

LONG BEACH, Calif.  (August 13, 2007) – Earth Tech Inc., a business unit of Tyco International Ltd., and a global provider of consulting, engineering and construction services, has been awarded a $9 million contract by the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) to provide construction management services for the district’s ongoing school and facilities modernization projects.

Under the five-year contract, Earth Tech will provide construction management personnel that will perform tasks such as project management, estimating, scheduling, engineering, project control, contracting, analysis and administrative support functions across eight regions within the school district.

Earth Tech, serving as prime contractor, will utilize the services of six local, disadvantaged small business subcontractors to complete the project work.

LAUSD, the second largest school district in the country, is undertaking the $20 billion school modernization and new school construction program to bring its facilities up to date. To date, LAUSD has completed 67 new schools, completed 55 school additions, and 15,000 upgrade projects as a result of this program, one of the largest ongoing public works programs in the country.

Under this new contract, Earth Tech will be providing construction management services for LAUSD’s modernization projects, and has been providing similar services to the district for new school construction since 2005.

“The goals of the LAUSD’s school construction and modernization program are ambitious by any measure,” Eric Peterson, Earth Tech vice president, said. “Our technical and construction management expertise will help ensure the quality, success and on-time completion of these diverse projects which are so critical to the Los Angeles area.”
