EARTH TECH TO INVESTIGATE INDOOR AIR QUALITY AND ENERGY MANAGEMENT FOR CHICAGO PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM

LONG BEACH, Calif. - February 14, 2003 - Earth Tech has been awarded a project by the Chicago Public School System (CPS) to investigate operation, maintenance and capital costs associated with Indoor Air Quality and Energy Management within the CPS schools and buildings. Work is ongoing and the initial phase and report is to be complete in the first quarter of 2003.

The Chicago Public School System is comprised of 600 individual schools and more than 750 buildings.

Under the program, Earth Tech is responsible for the development and review of energy management program objectives, multi-site investigation of building systems affecting air quality and energy use, review and revision of system specifications, development of an implementation plan of preventative maintenance and development of a graphical user interface for building automation systems including temperature control. Initially, a sampling of 12 schools will be investigated to provide data and information to CPS.

Earth Tech is preparing a detailed review of air quality and energy-sensitive operations and maintenance at the selected schools to develop a refined plan for proposed review of the other 588 schools.

"This is the first project awarded to Earth Tech by the Chicago Public School District," said Diane C. Creel, president of Earth Tech. "We're excited to lend our services to Chicago's public schools. Earth Tech has significant experience in working with schools, including charter schools, private schools, K-12 schools, community focused schools and early education schools. We've worked with some of the largest school districts in the country, providing a variety of services including architectural design as well as structural, mechanical, electrical, civil and geotechnical engineering. Our focus on this project will be on activities and items that affect the quality of indoor air and the expending of energy throughout the city's school systems buildings."
