EARTH TECH AWARDED DESIGN/BUILD PROJECT FROM ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS

Contract calls for new dormitory at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada ars

LONG BEACH, Calif. - March 7, 2003 - Earth Tech has been awarded a task order to design and construct a dormitory at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Los Angeles District. A notice to proceed is expected on the project in March 2003 and the dormitory is scheduled for completion within 12 months. The project value is $9.7 million.

The task order was awarded under the Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC) awarded to Earth Tech in December 2001. The contract is available for design/build military construction, civil (water) projects, and Army and Air Force installations in California, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, Idaho and Arizona.

The three-story 51,110 square foot dormitory and its related central services facility will provide housing for 144 unaccompanied enlisted personnel. The new facility will consist of 72 suites that include a common kitchen, bathroom and eating area, along with two separate sleeping/living quarters. The project will also consist of parking lot layout, utility extensions and outside recreation areas.

"This is the second design/build contract awarded to Earth Tech under our task order contact and our second design/build project at Nellis," said Diane C. Creel, president of Earth Tech. "Earth Tech is at the forefront of providing design/build services for military projects and we're proud to continue our relationship with the USACE and with Nellis Air Force Base."

Now widely used by the Corps, the MATOC program prequalifies contractors to bid on projects over a set period. Contract values typically range from $100,000 to $20 million, although there is no established limitation. Earth Tech's MATOC contract is for three years with two one-year options. Under the current MATOC, the Corps' Los Angeles district is authorized to award contracts totaling $400 million.
