EARTH TECH TO SUPPORT PEOPLE MOVER PROJECT AT TORONTO PEARSON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
LONG BEACH, Calif., June 7 - Earth Tech, a global provider of consulting, engineering and construction services, has been selected by the Greater Toronto Airports Authority to provide planning, design and engineering services for the Automated People Mover (APM) at Toronto Pearson International Airport.
Scheduled to open in December 2005, the new APM is part of the $4.4 billion landside and airside redevelopment currently underway at Toronto Pearson International Airport.
Earth Tech has worked with the Greater Toronto Airports Authority since 1997. The company is currently providing a wide range of services for the APM project, including structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering; transportation engineering; architectural design and landscape architecture.
“Our experience working with other major city airports such as O'Hare International, Kennedy International and Oakland airports will be an important asset to the Greater Toronto Airports Authority,” said Earth Tech President Alan Krusi. “Our knowledge base and best practices will be an important foundation of our support of Pearson International Airport's modernization efforts.”
The APM, which will accommodate a peak capacity of 2,150 passengers per hour, per direction, will offer passengers more efficient transportation service between terminals and between the terminals and remote parking facilities. The system design will also allow the APM to be expanded to a fourth station as Terminal 1 expands.
