HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS PRINCE CHARLES MARKS THE OPENING OF EARTH TECH WATER TREATMENT PLANT IN NORTHWEST SCOTLAND

New Treatment Plant Replaces Original Facility Dedicated by Queen Elizabeth in 1955

LONG BEACH, CALIF. (September 30, 2004) – Earth Tech Inc., a business unit of Tyco Engineered Products & Services, and global provider of consulting, engineering and construction services, recently marked the start of formal operations at the Loch Calder Water Treatment Works in Caithness, Scotland, with an opening ceremony attended by His Royal Highness Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay.

During the event, His Royal Highness Prince Charles unveiled a marker made of Caithness flagstone to commemorate the opening of Scottish Water's new treatment plant, which replaces one that his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, dedicated in 1955.

“The Loch Calder Water Treatment Works increases the efficiency and quality of Scottish Water's drinking water in northwestern Scotland, ” said Libby Gawith, Earth Tech's managing director of European operations. “We are proud that Earth Tech was able to provide its global water and wastewater treatment experience to make this historic project a reality.”

Delta Scotland, a joint venture between AWG Construction Services Limited and Earth Tech, also built approximately 50 miles (80 kilometers) of pipeline to deliver the water from the facility to the communities it serves, as well as two service reservoirs and three booster pumping stations.

The work on the North Coast Regional Scheme, which includes the new Loch Calder Water Works, is part of Scottish Water's USD $3.3 billion (£1.8 billion) nationwide Capital Investment Program designed to bring Scotland's water supply to current standards while delivering greater efficiency, cost benefits and better quality water.
