YORKSHIRE WATER SELECTS EARTH TECH JOINT VENTURE AS CONTRACT PARTNER FOR WASTEWATER PROGRAM
ETM 4 Work to Help Alleviate Sewer Overflows, Increase Effluent Quality
LONG BEACH, Calif. (October 6, 2004) – Earth Tech, a business unit of Tyco Engineered Products & Services, and global provider of consulting, engineering and construction services, was selected by Yorkshire Water to support its five-year-long wastewater program. Work on the program will begin in April 2005.
ETM 4 , a joint venture between Earth Tech and Morrison Construction Ltd., will manage a series of regional programs, valued at USD $180 million (£100 million), designed to alleviate sewer flooding and overflows. It will also bring wastewater treatment plants in the West Yorkshire Operational area into compliance with increasing national regulatory treatment standards. This Operations area serves about one-quarter of Yorkshire Water's 1.7 million residential and 140,000 commercial customers.
“Yorkshire Water's wastewater program will improve the quality of life for its customers by increasing the efficiency of the system and improving the local environment,” said Libby Gawith, managing director of Earth Tech's European Operations. “Earth Tech looks forward to using our global water and wastewater experience to help Yorkshire Water achieve this goal.”
Yorkshire Water will identify projects or groups of projects for the program and assign target budgets for each. ETM 4 will manage about 20 program contractors, using performance enhancement techniques to ensure the tasks are completed on budget and on time. ETM 4 will receive a share of the cost savings in return.
This latest project builds on Earth Tech's longstanding relationship with Yorkshire Water, which has included both water and wastewater projects for the utility.
