BERGERSON, EARTH TECH SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, DIES

LONG BEACH, CALIF. (October 27, 2004) – John Bergerson, P.E., senior vice president at Earth Tech Inc. passed away yesterday from heart failure. He was 59.

John was a key executive in the company's Transit/Railroad sector, where he was mainly responsible for marketing the firm’s services for transit and railroad projects worldwide. He was based in Oakland, California.

"John's passion for his work was an inspiration to others. He pursued every opportunity to share his engineering knowledge and experience with colleagues in ways that would truly make a difference to the quality of a project," said Alan Krusi, president of Earth Tech. "The transportation projects he touched leave behind a lasting legacy that will benefit people throughout the world for decades to come."

Bergerson became part of Earth Tech through the acquisition of Kaiser Engineers in 2000, a company he joined in 1967 following his graduation from the University of Washington.

During his impressive career, John managed a variety of transportation assignments, highlighted by some of the world’s most complex light and heavy rail projects. Most recently, he had been responsible for Earth Tech’s Program Management Oversight contract with the Federal Transit Administration, U.S. Department of Transportation. He was project manager for the planning and design of the $100 million Airport Roadway project in Oakland and was highly involved with many large contracts with BART (San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District) over the years. One of his major accomplishments was helping to build Manila’s $700 million EDSA Light Rail Line 3; he was instrumental from inception to completion of the project. He also served as principal-in-charge of Earth Tech's work on major rail transit projects in Taipei, Manila, Los Angeles, Miami, Atlanta, Seattle, Chicago, and the San Francisco Bay Area.

In recognition of John’s passion for golf, donations in John’s memory can be made to The NCGA Foundation, a charitable arm of the Northern California Golf Association that teaches golf to kids with a focus on disadvantaged youth throughout Northern California. The NCGA will match all donations. Checks should be sent in the memory of John to: NCGA Foundation, PO Box 1157, Pebble Beach, CA 93953.
