Earth Tech Engineering Limited, our UK operation, conducted a Phase II environmental site assessment of a steel tube manufacturing facility in the West Midlands, England to support our client’s proactive environmental management program. The project objective was to reassess the site in light of recently promulgated contaminated land regulations to provide decision-makers with the information needed to manage Tyco’s environmental risk.
The environmental assessment consisted of:
- Review and re-interpretation of existing chemical data vis-à-vis recently released guidance under the Contaminated Land Regulations (2000), namely the CLR series of documents and the CLEA2002 software programme
- Installation of monitoring wells at strategic positions to supplement existing data points, and allow development of a detailed hydrogeological model
- Chemical data analysis
- An interpretative risk analysis of receptors threatened by subsurface conditions.
This information was condensed into a conceptual site model, enabling a recommendation of pragmatic and cost-effective solutions to ensure regulatory compliance.
