Based on its long-term operating plan, Earth Tech’s client made the decision to locate a new production facility in North America. The preferred site was selected because of an abundant supply of high quality raw water and the proximity to the raw materials supply. To maintain the client’s competitive position in the marketplace, it was essential that the approvals and construction be completed in approximately two years.

Earth Tech identified all approvals required, conducted all background studies, prepared all application documents and coordinated obtaining all permits required for construction of the greenfield facility. Due to the magnitude of the project and the lack of similar existing facilities in North America, a great deal of effort was required to satisfy the regulatory agencies.

Earth Tech also provided detailed engineering design and construction administration services for the water supply, water treatment, wastewater collection, wastewater treatment and support facilities as well as design of the outfall diffuser to the receiving stream. The design was as similar as possible to existing facilities in Europe while taking into consideration local conditions and local design standards and environmental legislation.
