Earth Tech was part of a team responsible for the design of the Gleneagles Community Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia. This project was one of just three in the United States and Canada recognized for incorporating the surrounding environment and green building techniques into the design.

The design incorporates a heating/cooling system for the 23,000-square-foot recreational facility that is the first of its kind in North America. The system uses heated or cooled water from two ground-source heat pumps to keep the building at a constant temperature. Water is then circulated via plastic piping cast into the concrete walls and floors of the building.

Other green building techniques utilized in the project include a displacement ventilation system, rainwater collection, and low-flow plumbing.

Design of the community center is aesthetically appropriate and provides easy access to the site’s beautiful surroundings which include local hiking trails, outdoor meeting areas, and fields for soccer and baseball.
