The Port of Melbourne Corporation required all existing security assets and facilities to comply with the Port Security Plan by June 2004. Earth Tech was engaged to undertake a security audit of fences, gates, gatehouses and lighting facilities to determine the details of existing systems.
Earth Tech delivered a cost-effective and comprehensive audit of over 700 assets. Included in the audit was compliance of assets with the appropriate Australian Standards and audit of lux level readings of light poles and light towers. Trimble GeoExploers, laser range finders, lux level meter and digital cameras were used to capture all required information. The use of GPS allowed all assets to be located to sub metre position accuracy.
Due to the nature of the sites, which were attended by field teams, an extensive Safety and Quality Plan was required for this project. The audit results were successfully delivered to the Port of Melbourne in a complete report, on time and within budget.
